Welcome

The California Project for Legal Reform is a project of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR). This project has been established to provide you with the latest information on activities and events related to our goal of reforming California's legal system. California can't afford the high price of lawsuit abuse -- and that's why we are working to bring sensible legal reform!

Backward or Forward for California's Economy?
Don't Let the Trial Lawyers Destroy Our State's Legal System

A new survey of major U.S. employers shows that California has one of the five worst lawsuit climates (46th out of 50) in the country.

That same survey also shows that Los Angeles County is the rated as the second-worst jurisdiction for lawsuit abuse in the country — and San Francisco isn't far behind at number four.

California's abusive lawsuit climate might also be discouraging businesses from creating new jobs. In fact, almost two-thirds (67%) of survey respondents say that "the litigation environment in a state is likely to impact important business decisions" such as where to locate or do business.

Right now, California needs more jobs — not more lawsuits.
